Recruiting a New All Star

"It's really been a godsend for us. It's made managing people coming in and out so much easier."

Is "it" some sort of new management tool? A new employee communication initiative? The latest leadership skills book sweeping corporate America?

No.

"It" is MEDECO Logic.

The quote from Bobby Glass, Systems Administrator for the National Collegiate Scouting Association, is in reaction to that organization's use of Logic, a digital key and cylinder system that allows facilities to quickly and easily upgrade security without installing new hardware.

NCSA, a Chicago-based organization that matches college athletic coaches with qualified athletes, wanted the ability to grant access to employees and more efficiently track people coming in and out of the office. By the nature of their work, some employees have fluctuating work hours - in early one day and out late the next. As a result, employees had to manually check office keys in and out and, according to Glass, that was becoming a problem.

"It's like night and day because all I have to do now is program new keys for a certain time and not have to worry about someone coming in after hours," Glass said. "We also have a storage room that previously was accessible using the front door key. With Logic, we can also limit what doors people can and can't access."
