Discovery Channel’s “It Takes a Thief” and The ASSA ABLOY Integrated Solutions Specialist Program Team Up To Host The 2005 ISC East Keynote
(Norwalk, Conn.—June 30, 2005)—It takes one to know one is the common saying but will truth lie behind this when the host of Discovery Channel’s “It Takes a Thief” holds court in an interactive keynote to kick-off ISC East August 24 at 8:30 AM at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, N.Y.
Jon Douglas Rainey, host of the new show and Frank Santamorena, PSP, a Physical Security Professional from Assa Abloy Americas Integrated Solutions Specialist Program (ISS team) will team up to host the 2005 ISC East keynote. Honeywell is the official equipment sponsor for the keynote address and the NYBFAA is the sponsor of the ISC East event as well as the ISC East keynote presentation.
Common home invasion misconceptions and the exposure of home security flaws are the central issues that will drive the discussion at the keynote event. The event will feature a moderator from Security Sales & Integration magazine, the official media sponsor of the keynote event, followed by the hosts, who will discuss the premise and format of the “It Takes a Thief” television shows, and a panel of three industry professionals in a Q&A segment.
“Our goal with the show is to help people realize that a burglary can happen to them,” said Rainey. “Each week, we show that everyone is vulnerable and the more information and awareness that gets out there the better The ISC East keynote will provide us with a unique opportunity to communicate with the security industry – the very same group that supplies the assurance against burglaries and theft.”
“It Takes a Thief” features a staged burglary using the homes of volunteers, followed by a lesson in which types of deterrents prevent such a violation from happening again. Armed with a full-home security makeover, the “It Takes a Thief” crew visits the home some weeks later to see the outcome of the new security.
“It Takes a Thief” brings our industry sector to the mainstream,” remarked Dean Russo, vice president for the ISC portfolio of events. “While I’m convinced the industry will garner great insight from the crew at ‘It Takes a Thief,’ I’ve no doubt that the security industry will enhance the program as well. This keynote is quite different from what we’ve done in the past, but I think it will be great fun.”
